BMW Series Numbers
The most common types of BMW cars are those who are identified by series number. The BMW Series numbers are used to help identify different types of cars made by the German auto company. These range from coupes to compact executive cars to luxury sports cars. There are five different types of Series offered by BMW, and these types of BMW cars are especially impressive.
The first of these series is the 1 Series. This is the small luxury car Series offered by BMW. This is generally an entry point to all of the cars offered by BMW. This features inline V6 engines and are available primarily as coupes.
Next, there is the 3 Series. This is a compact executive car brand from BMW. This is one of the top selling lines of luxury cars in the world because of its affordability. These cars feature inline V6 engines and have all sorts of great options. These include suspension technology quality and all wheel drive features.
The 5 Series is another of the lines of cars offered by BMW. This is one of the executive car types of BMW cars. Not only are inline V6 engines offered in the 5 Series but there are also cars with V8 engines and even diesel capabilities. The M5 is one of the most popular of these cars in this class. This car features a seven speed Sequential Manual Gearbox transmission. This series is known for being more experimental among other cars in that this series features all sorts of designs that come first before moving to other series of cars in the BMW family. The headlight design of these cars is one of the best examples in that it was used in the 5 Series before coming to the other models.
The 6 Series is the next of the types of BMW cars. This is a grand touring coupe series that features 5.0L V10 engines. Diesel engines that get up to forty miles per gallon in gas mileage are also available in this series.
The last of the series offered by BMW is the 7 Series. This is the executive sedan series offered by BMW. The most recent cars offered here are the E65 and E66 models. The engines can be especially powerful, as one can choose a standard V8 engine or a 6.0L V12 engine. These cars can reach top speeds of 150 miles per hour (250 km/h). The iDrive system, which controls all sorts of features in the car, is also featured here.
